Is there anything better than grandma’s cooking? I don’t think so. I am lucky to have grandparents on both sides that were great cooks. Today, I carry on some of my favourite recipes as comfort foods and reminders of them. Previously, I shared my grandma’s Mushroom, Broccoli, and Cheddar Quiche and this recipe of my grandma’s homemade meatballs are certainly one of my favourites too! Above all, the ingredients are super simple so it’s easy to whip up at home. There are so many different ways to eat your meatballs, from using it to top off your spaghetti to eating it alone. With that said, let’s jump into today’s recipe!

  • Serves: 4
  • Prep time: 15 minutes
  • Cook time: 30-40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 450-500 grams lean ground beef
  • ¼ cup onion, chopped
  • ½ cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of salt

Optional: Fresh parsley

Directions for these Homemade Meatballs:

  1. Firstly, pre-heat the oven to 450F.
  2. Meanwhile, use a large bowl to break up the ground meat into smaller pieces.
  3. Afterwards, add in onion, bread crumbs, milk, egg and pinch of salt to the ground meat, and stir to combine. Optional: add chopped parsley to meat mixture.
  4. Next, using a large spoon, shape into balls.
  5. Subsequently, place the meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Finally, bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes or until no pink remains.

That’s all! These homemade meatballs are sure to hit the spot and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Like I said, these remind me of my grandma’s cooking and I love that I am able to recreate it for myself. I would love to hear a meal that reminds you of your own family’s cooking in the comments below. Don’t forget to check out my other quiche recipe from my grandma and many others on my site! Happy eating!
