Maple Glazed Salmon
Just in time for spring, here’s myfavourite salmon recipe that is easy and delicious! This Maple Glazed Salmon tastes so good and the maple marinade only takes 5 minutes to prepare. If you have time to marinade your salmon, leave the coatedsalmon in the fridge for a couple hours tosoak up the flavours. The star ingredient, salmon, also contains healthy unsaturated fats known as Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.
In short, fatty fish (like salmon) contain the 2 Omega 3 fatty acids DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). Research shows greater health benefits associated with the DHA and EPA found in fatty fish opposed to the last Omega 3 fatty acid known as ALA (Alpha-linolenic acid), which is found in some plants sources. One salmon serving (6 oz) contains 2,000-3,000mg DHA and EPA. I have a post all about Omega 3, so be sure to check that out!
Health Benefits of Omega 3 Include:
- Protection against heart disease and stroke
- Building healthy brain cells
- Possible role in cancer prevention
- Role in lowering blood pressure
- Linked to improving depression
- Linked to improving rheumatoid arthritis
