Italian Mushrooms: My Family’s Recipe
Believe it or not, mushrooms were my first favourite food. If you are a fellow mushroom lover, I am sure you will agree that they are just so delicious! These Italian Mushrooms are also great because mushrooms contain potassium. Potassium is a mineral that relaxes the arteries through the release of nitric oxide. This helps blood to travel to different parts of the body more easily and, therefore, prevents cardiovascular disease caused by narrowed or blocked blood vessels. Here are 7 benefits of potassium that I talked about in another post:
- Lowers blood pressure
- Promotes the release of sodium in the urine
- Reduces risk of death from cardiovascular disease and ischemic heart disease
- Protects against muscle loss associated with aging
- Preserves bone density
- Reduces risk of kidney stones
- Helps build muscle mass
1 cup of mushrooms contain around 318 mg of potassium, which is about 10% of your Percent Daily Value. So, this food is both tasty and nutritious! Today, I wanted to share with you the traditional D’Ambrosio family Italian Mushrooms recipe. It’s super easy to make and it’s ready to eat in under 30 minutes. With that said, I hope you enjoy them, just as we have for decades in our family.
