As a dietitian, I find people often ask if I’m vegetarian and are surprised when I gobble down a burger. Why?! This Sriracha Jalapeño Burger is actually one of my favourite foods! It will have your taste buds dancing with the flavourful garlic and the heat from the sriracha and jalapeños. After all, burgers are just so delicious and satisfying! Don’t you agree? Remember, if you’re a meat eater, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a juicy burger!

Think Satisfaction!

In a world inundated with diet culture, food restrictions and constant labelling of foods as ‘good’ or ‘bad,’ it’s important to remember the importance of SATISFACTION! Eat the foods you enjoy and make them at home! When we eat foods we love and feel good about it, our body will continue to give us feedback for what we need. Consequently, this allows us to enjoy a variety of foods (without guilt) and nourish our body from the inside out.

Sriracha Jalapeño Burger Recipe

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams lean ground beef
  • 3 tbsp sriracha
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup jalapeños, pickled, chopped
  • Generous pinch of Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper

Sriracha Jalapeño Burger Directions:

  1. First, in a large bowl, mix together beef, sriracha, garlic and jalapeños. Add sprinkle of kosher salt and fresh ground pepper.
  2. Next, form meat mixture into burger patties of uniform size. I use about half a cup amount of meat and form into a large ball and then flatten with my palms.
  3. Lay burgers on an oiled BBQ grill or smoker. Then cook burgers, turning once until browned on both sides and no longer pink instead (cut to test). This will take about 7 to 10 minutes on a BBQ and longer on a smoker. Remove from grill.
  4. Finally, toast hamburger buns and dress with condiments you love – I add yellow mustard, ketchup, fresh tomatoes, microgreens or arugula, green onions, caramelized onions, pickle and a spicy mayo.

Foodie Dietitian Notes

If you want absolute bacteria safety, you need to cook your burgers to 160°. This recipe will keep them moist.
