Pear & Blue Cheese Salad
Salads don’t have to be boring. In fact, they shouldn’t be! Imagine enjoying veggies as “the star of the meal.” It can certainly be done. They can become extraordinary with the right balance of flavour, crunch and sweetness. Likewise, this Pear & Blue Cheese Salad is one of my favourites right now. The sweetness of the pear is a perfect complement to the tart and savoury blue cheese. Additionally, the sunflower seeds add crunch and a little intense sweetness with a sprinkling of craisins.
Salads sometimes get a bad rap. However, they can be simple, flavourful and an impressive crowd-pleaser! Firstly, make sure they contain some sort of carbohydrate. Secondly, don’t forget about protein! This helps to slow digestion and keep us satisfied longer. Protein sources also helps to provide essential vitamins and minerals important for health and well-being. Finally, make sure you add components that build flavour! Pear & Blue Cheese Salad Recipe
- Prep: 10 minutes
- Serves: 2
Ingredients:
- 4 cups arugula/spinach, washed
- 1 cup pear, sliced
- 3 Tbsp sunflower seeds, unsalted
- 3 Tbsp craisins
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- Sprinkle salt
- Optional: Drizzle aged balsamic along top of salad
- Add fresh Italian Parsley for flavour-boost
Directions for Pear & Blue Cheese Salad:
- Firstly, clean salad greens and place into large bowl.
- Secondly, add pear, sunflower seeds and craisins on top of salad.
- Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Moreover, I usually add a sprinkle of salt.
- Toss to combine.
- Finally, finish with aged balsamic drizzle, if desired.
