Who wouldn’t love a succulent salmon, marinated with fresh ingredients and just bursting with flavour? Just the thought of this dish makes my mouth water, which is why I certainly had to share it with all of you too. This White Wine and Citrus Salmon is a simple recipe that uses common household ingredients, such as orange juice, ginger, and white wine. Additionally, another reason to love this dish is that it’s a delicious way to get those omega-3’s! Salmon, a fatty fish, contains DHA(docosahexaenoic acid)and EPA(eicosapentaenoic acid), which are two kinds of the three Omega 3 fatty acids.

Benefits of consuming Omega 3, an essential fatty acid:

  • Protection against heart disease and stroke
  • Building healthy brain cells
  • Possible role in cancer prevention
  • Role in lowering blood pressure
  • Linked to improving depression
  • Linked to improving rheumatoid arthritis

One 6 ozserving of salmoncontains2,000-3,000mg DHA and EPA and today’s recipe (which calls for 4 oz salmon fillets) fulfills Health Canada’s recommendation for adults to consume at leasttwo servings of fish per week. To clarify, one serving is equal to 75 grams or 2 ½ ounces or half a cup of cooked fish. Thus, today’s recipe is great for both your taste buds and your overall health!
